Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 7: Adding a round-about at Line 26 between Stratford and St. Marys/London/401 W

Daytime delays may be possible during August, however, all roads and the round-about are open.

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

20 on the Trestle Launch

In the mid-1990s, the Town of St. Marys purchased the then-abandoned CN rail line which spans the Thames River. In 1996, the council of the day struck a committee to turn the eyesore and safety hazard into the Grand Trunk Trail, an integral part of our trail system.

Now, it’s time to celebrate this milestone and the trail's continued importance to our community!

The celebration, known as “20 on the Trestle” will begin on Saturday, May 18 and conclude in early October to coincide with the October 3, 1999 dedication of the trail.

Join us on Saturday, May 18 as we kick off this celebration with a children's parade on the trail, official declaration, and birthday cupcakes! The parade begins at the Wellington Street North access to the trail (Egan Street intersection).

The events will take inspiration from the simple pleasures of the trail: the unparalleled panoramic view, the expanse of recreational space, and the proximity to nature. The events will be free and open to all to attend and will be posted to as they are confirmed. You can also Like our Facebook page @stmarysontario and follow @townofstmarys on Twitter to stay in the know.

This event is wheelchair accessible.

Cost: Free

Location: Grand Trunk Trail and Trestle, St. Marys, 80 Water Street North, St. Marys
