The Blyth Festival, Home of New Canadian Plays, Suspends 2020 Season

Just a short drive from Stratford through the bucolic countryside of Perth and Huron Counties is the community of Blyth, Ontario, home of the Blyth Centre for the Arts, (also known as the Blyth Festival).  The Festival is devoted to presenting Canadian plays that explore the personality of rural Ontario in comedy, drama, and music. Over its 43 year history, Blyth has premiered 130 new Canadian works, many of which have gone on to become award-winners and classics.

Today the Blyth Centre for the Arts is a year-round centre of cultural activity for southwestern Ontario. In addition to the Blyth Festival, the Centre includes an art gallery that showcases three professional exhibits, one non-juried community show and co-ordinates a student exhibit each season; as well as the (professional) Blyth Orchestra and the Blyth Singers.

In 2017 Blyth opened its doors to a brand new auditorium, with new seats, more leg room, a state of the art lighting and sound system and new catering facilities.
